Aromas of iodine, tangerine oil and citrus zest mingle with nuances of smoke, crushed chalk, walnut oil and freshly baked bread, introducing the 2008 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons, a full-bodied, tensile and tight-knit wine that's much more linear and incisive by comparison with the broader, fleshier 2009 that preceded it. Long, intense and searingly chalky, this is still a few years away from drinking at its peak, but its quality is already apparent

The 2008 Les Chétillons seems to slowly be coming out of a period during which is has not been very expressive at all. In the last few months however, the 2008 is showing like it did about two years ago, when it positively sizzled with vintage 2008 cut and tension. Citrus, floral and mineral-drenched notes abound in this captivating Champagne endowed with real Mesnil character. 95+

This harmonious Champagne offers fine interplay between power and finesse, with ripe poached apricot, rich lemon meringue pie and spun honey flavors married to chalky minerality and focused acidity.
